Enterprise Observability
Know where your monitoring actually stands
Before you buy a new platform or fund a bigger roadmap, get an objective, scored view of your current estate. In two to four weeks we benchmark coverage, alert quality and governance — and hand you a prioritized plan you can execute with or without us.
- Two-to-four-week engagement
- Cloud, on-premises & hybrid
- Vendor-neutral scoring
The problems this solves
Why enterprises fund roadmaps that fix the wrong things
-
Nobody can say what is actually covered
Tools accumulated over years — APM here, logging there, a cloud-native stack in one business unit — and no single view shows which critical journeys are instrumented and which are blind.
-
Alert volume is high but confidence is low
On-call teams field hundreds of pages a week, most of them noise. Without measuring false-positive rates, tuning is guesswork and real incidents still arrive via customers.
-
Platform decisions are made on vendor claims
Renewal and replacement decisions land without an objective baseline, so budget flows to new tooling while configuration problems — the actual cause — travel along untouched.
-
Leadership cannot connect spend to risk
Engineering knows the gaps anecdotally, but without a scored, business-facing view, executives cannot rank observability investment against everything else asking for budget.
How we help
From anecdotes to a scored baseline
The same estate, examined systematically — so every remediation decision is grounded in evidence.
- Coverage known only as tribal knowledge
- Alert noise accepted as the cost of monitoring
- Tooling decisions driven by vendor roadmaps
- Incident patterns never analyzed across teams
- Observability budget defended with anecdotes
- A scored maturity baseline across the estate
- Alert quality measured, with a tuning plan
- Platform choices grounded in your own data
- Recurring root-cause patterns made visible
- A risk-ranked roadmap leadership can fund
Services included
What the assessment examines
Tooling & Coverage Inventory
A complete inventory of monitoring tools, agent coverage and instrumentation gaps across the estate.
Alert Quality Review
Alert volume, false-positive rates and how much noise actually reaches on-call engineers.
Maturity Scoring
A scorecard benchmarking transaction visibility, dashboards, alerting and governance.
Gap Analysis
Coverage blind spots identified and ranked by the business risk each one represents.
Incident Pattern Review
Incident history analyzed for recurring root causes your monitoring should have caught.
Roadmap & Executive Readout
A sequenced remediation plan, presented in business terms leadership can act on.
Why it matters
What a scored baseline changes
Outcome statements describe engagement goals; measured results depend on your environment and are baselined during assessment.

Questions CIOs ask
Before you commit budget
How long does an observability assessment take?
Two to four weeks depending on estate size. Smaller environments with one or two monitoring platforms sit at the two-week end; large hybrid estates with multiple tools and business units take closer to four.
Do we need to give you production access?
Read-only access to your monitoring platforms is enough for most of the work. Where access is restricted, we work from exported configuration, alert histories and screen-shares with your operations team.
Is the assessment tied to a specific monitoring vendor?
No. The scoring framework is vendor-neutral and covers AppDynamics, Datadog, open-source and OpenTelemetry-based stacks alike. Platform recommendations, if any, come out of the findings — not the other way around.
What do we actually receive at the end?
A scored maturity report, a coverage gap analysis with risk ranking, an alert-quality review, a prioritized remediation roadmap, and an executive readout that presents the findings in business terms.
Are we obligated to use Cosmonaut for the remediation work?
No. The roadmap is written so your internal team can execute it independently. Many clients do engage us for the highest-priority items, but the assessment stands on its own.
Start with evidence, not a proposal
A two-to-four-week assessment gives you a scored view of coverage, alert quality and governance — and a roadmap you can execute with or without us.
